Gravity 1.24.6100, the first mobile Twitter software supporting list
Today, the author of Gravity released version 1.24.6100, which includes beta support of the new Twitter list. So Gravity becomes the first mobile Twitter client supporting this feature.
In fact, Gravity has “group” – something similar to “list” long before Twitter provides this feature. In Gravity 1.24.6100, there is a new option to create group from twitter list. According to the author, the support of list in Gravity is still very basic: users can use this feature to view any list. But there is still no setting option of list update interval, which is available for Timeline, replies, messages. In another words, users have to update list manually.
Except the support of Twitter list, Gravity has a lot of update recently, which are mainly bug fixes and complements of the Google Reader feature. What I like the most of the Google Reader feature in Gravity are the “search all your feeds” option and support of multiple account. Since I use different Google Reader accounts to subscribe news in different languages and domains. There may be a better way to integrate Twitter and Google Reader in Gravity. It is something already implemented in Snaptu: many twitter users submit URLs of interesting contents they found on web. Many of these online contents are not suitable displayed on mobile phones. Snaptu will analyze those URLs first to check whether they have RSS or not. If yes, Snaptu will use its built-in RSS reader to display those contents. It will make reading URLs in tweets more pleasant.
Another important recent update of Gravity to me is the GZIP compression for Twitter API. This update reduces not only data traffic but also the power consumption since data transmission is the No.1 battery killer of mobile phones.
Looking at these improvement of Gravity due to intensive updates by the author, I feel it is the most valuable money I spent on software for my Nokia N82.
I am using a registered 1.24.6098 version of Gravity, but I can’t still see version 1.24.6100 in “Info & Updates” section
Yes, that’s true. You have to download the latest version from http://mobileways.de/latest/gravity-preview.sisx, which is 1.30.6232 now. It can co-exist with 1.24
