Reason and solution of “Memory full” error on Symbian S60
Yesterday, after installing Opera Mini 5.0 beta, I tried to change security settings of it in App. mgr. to get rid of messages asking for permission to access user data or internet. However, when I was opening the setting of Opera Mini 5.0 beta in Applications Manager, I got an error message of “Memory full”. But I still had enough free RAM, free space on phone memory or external memory card. How does it come?
If you are a fan of mobile phones, you may have installed many software on your handset like myself. And if you are also using a Symbian S60 device just like me, you will have this “Memory full” error soon or later.
In fact, this is a bug of Symbian S60 system. If users install to many software, including wgz, jar, sis, N-Gaga files or even themes, on their Symbian S60 mobile phones, they will have “Memory full” error in various situations. Here is a summary I found on Internet:
a. If you have less than 120 software installed on your Symbian S60 mobile phone, it is be safe;
b. If you have more than 120 software installed on your Symbian S60 mobile phone, you will start to have problems listed below while the number of installed software increases:
- Users cannot open any software in the applications management program;
- App. mgr. is not accessible;
- Help option of any installed software icon is inaccessible;
- The help option in most software become inaccessible;
- The help software of system doesn’t work;
- Applications list cannot be been in PC suit.
It is not so difficult to have more than 120 software installed if users are not aware of the risk since installing software like N-Gaga will add about 10 programs in your applications list. The only solution is uninstall unnecessary software. Or we should only install software “really” necessary but not “maybe” necessary before Nokia solves this problem on Symbian S60 platform.
Ive a nokia E90 communicator,& i dont have many softwares installed in it too.but the same ‘phone memory full,delete some data’ appears after unknown regular intervals only in my text messages,& i’m unable to send any kind of messages.Strange thing is that i can send MMS,but not SMS.I can make calls,& i can also use all the other phone utilities,BUT,i cant send the sms!!!! it just keeps lying in the outbox of my phone,& gives this error message upon message failure options.The only solution i got was to reset my phone.But i cant reset my phone every now & then.Kindly propose me a solution.
