You may have been facing such kind of problem: You received a word, excel or PDF file on your mobile phone (It is already very common for today’s mobile phones to have built-in email clients), but your phone are just a Java-enabled phones that it doesn’t have software installed to read these kind of files like on smartphones. However, you want to read the file before you can have a PC to open it. Is there any solution?

If you search carefully on the internet, you may find two software called mobile doc view and mobile pdf viewer. But as far as I know they are not doing there job so well and moreover they are not free.

In fact there is a very simple trick to let you view word, excel, PDF or other documents on your Java-enabled phone. What you need are a Gmail account and install the Gmail mobile (based on Java ME) on your phone. Forward the email contained the document or send a new email with the word, excel or PDF file to your Gmail account. Then use the Gmail mobile to access your Gmail account, open the email your just forwarded/sent, choose view attachment and the file you want to read will be displayed in a comfortable way for the screen of your mobile phone.

Of course, you’d better have a data plan to use this trick, otherwise it can be costly :-)
