How to install Palm software on Nokia Symbian S60 phones via StyleTap
StyleTap is an Palm emulator running on Windows Mobile, Symbian S60 V3/V5 and UIQ smartphones. In order to install Palm software on Nokia Symbian S60 phones, users first have to install the StyleTap on their handset. StyleTap will generate a directory called /data/others/styletap/db or /others/styletap/db, which depends on whether it has been install on the phone memory or the external memory card, when it is running for the first time. Then close StyleTap and copy all PRC or PDB files of the software you want to install on your phone to that directory. Run StyleTap after necessary files have been copied, the screen will be blank for a while since StyleTap needs some time to install the software and initialize the database. When it is finished, the new installed software will have a launch icon on the main screen of StyleTap.
On Windows Mobile phones, if users have installed StyleTap under /StyleTap, then the directory to put prc and pdb files will be /StyleTap/db.
StyleTap will rename these files to something like “database name”+”#random letters and numbers”.stp. These stp files can be copied to the installation of StyleTap on another phone, no matter whether they are Symbian S60 V3/V5 or Windows Mobile systems. If you install a lot Palm software or some installed Palm software have many libraries, the directory can be quite messy. My suggestion is to backup the directory regularly, since StyleTap may be corrupted after installing a new Palm software or changing the setting of one Palm software.
