Talkonaut allies with Talkster to make free international calls

Since recent, Talkonaut released 4.x, which are native Symbian S60 and Windows mobile applications with real VoIP stack. Now to further promote this excellent mobile VoIP software, Talkonaut tightly integrated with Free World Dialing feature of Talkster. Here is the introduction from the official website of Talkonaut:

This means, you may use Talkonaut to make free international calls to your friends overseas once they are located in any of 30+ supported countries. The most exciting aspect of this feautre is that it works over GPRS, 3G or WIFI connection, hence allows you to utilize your data plan, and if you are connected to unlimited plan or to WIFI network, the whole service is totally free for you. There’s no any hidden charges, no registration, no credit cards required, you just add your friend’s phone number into your roster (list of contacts) and hit green Call button of your phone on the contact.

How to use

First of all, start up Talkonaut and log in to your Jabber account. This feature works with any Jabber account, including Google Talk and Talkonaut.COM. If you are using Talkonaut first time and you don’t have any Jabber account (like on gmail.com), you can register your self a Talkonaut.COM account right from the application.

So, once you are connected, press Menu soft-key and choose Add contact menu item.
When presented with Add contact dialog screen, please select contact type by hitting joystick on Contact Type: drop-down menu, which is by default is set to “Phone number”.
Please choose Talkster Free Calling from the list of available types and hit joystick again.
Fill in Phone number of your friend you wish to call to and define some nickname which will be shown in your list of contacts. Please note, that phone number must be provided in E.164 (International) format: this means number must begin with country code followed by area code and local phone number. The example demonstrates a phone number in Canada (+1), Toronto (416).Once all data is provided, please press Save soft-key.
Right after that, if phone number provided is correct and located in one of 30+ supported countries, you will receive a confirmation message, shown in a popup.It is possible that you receive an error message explaining erronous situation. This usually happens when phone number is incorrectly defined. Try to fix it by repeating the procedute from the beginning. If error persists, please contact us over email at team@gtalk2voip.com.

You can click on popup or switch tabs to read full message text.
Now, you are ready to make a call.Press green Call (Yes) button on your phone (or Call soft-key) to initiate a free call to this phone number. Right away, you will hear a voice prompt informing you on call progress and providing additional instructions which you have to follow.

Please note:
1. Right after call is connected, i.e. your friend answered your call, you will have 10 seconds to ask your friend to call back to a local gateway number, which is sent to his phone over SMS.
2. In such a case when your friend cannot receive SMS messages, please tell him/her the local number that is displayed to you, as shown in confirmation message.
3. You should hold on and wait till your friend callbacks to the local gateway number and you will get connected again. After that, you may talk as much as you want.
4. A short (10 secs) commercial audio clip will be played to you while you are on-hold waiting for your friend calling back.

When your conversation is over, just press red (No) button on your phone to hang up.
Next time you want to make a call to your friend, please find the contact on your roster and press green Call (Yes) button on your phone.

It seems that Talkonaut made a lot of progress: Breakthrough new Symbian S60 and Windows Mobile versions as well as ally with VoIP service providers. It will be interesting to see how it will compete with Fring — the market of mobile VoIP software.
